Washington, Here We Come!

I don't have any photos for this post because Claire and I will be flying out to Washington April 22 and will be staying until May 20th. So you'll get to see us for real! Skyler will fly to Washington May 10th and returning with us May 20th. We're excited for Angela's wedding, Claire's second Birthday, Mother's Day and spending time with everyone in person!

You are my Sunshine

I just can’t get enough of the sunshine and all of the flowers and trees in bloom! And with Claire going everywhere with me, her blonde, curly hair is my little sunshine.
Medieval Fair: For 30+ years Norman has held an annual, free fair at a nearby park, so we decided to check it out! There was so much to see and do. It was hardly historically accurate, but was lots of fun! There were camel, elephant and knight horse rides. I got to see some jousting, acrobats juggle fire, and hear some bagpipe players. There were lots of booths selling goods. The most popular items were: clothing (medieval, corsets, belly dancing/gypsy skirts and wraps, etc.), wooden swords and shields, jewelry, and fairy/princess stuff such as flower crowns and fairy wings. Many people found it an excuse to wear a kilt. I saw two people dressed up as Jack Sparrow and a girl that looked just like the Disney Sleeping Beauty. Many people brought their dogs and Claire loved seeing all of them from her stroller point of view. There were people walking around with either an owl or hawk on their arm, which was cool to see up close. Of course there were tons of food vendors and I enjoyed a cheesecake strudel. I loved going to the fair as a kid and enjoyed this unique little fair, so we’ll probably go every year.
Conference: As usual we tuned into general conference. We listened to most of the sessions on campus in an empty classroom, so Claire could run around as much as she wanted. It rained a little bit, so she enjoyed playing with an umbrella for the first time.
Kangaroo: Skyler likes to zip Claire up in his coat to keep her warm on the way to the car and I just had to take some pictures because they’re so cute together!

Downtown: The rest of the pictures are from Claire coming along with me to the mall and the library. She got stuck in a red canoe in the play area, loved driving a green car, ate a banana while watching the “water” (fountain), took off her clothes in the dressing room so we both had to put our clothes back on before heading out, and we read some books together. Let’s just say that she was out and asleep on the way back home!

Love Spring!

A typical week in the Biochemistry Grad Student’s Life:
-Catching up on grading for his recitation classes. (Sounds like he’s a professor already huh?)
-Constantly texting to schedule individual tutoring sessions to earn money on the side
-Tries to get in lab hours as much as possible. It’s similar to cooking in that things have to be timed out just right, so he’s constantly watching the clock and sometimes has to go in at odd hours in the day
-Now that the weather is more consistently warm, it’s becoming more realistic for him to ride his bike to campus, but he recently got a flat tire, so that’s on the to-do list
-Eating lunch from the lunch box packed by his loving wifeJ  and squeezing in mini phone chats with her during the day
-Giving kisses to, taking mini walks with and reading bedtime stories to his daughter

This week was not typical for Claire and I. We both had runny noses and sneezes. We used lots of Puff tissues, medicine, naps, low prep food, water and books/movies. Now we’re back on our feet and going to playdates again. I love the new growth and blossoms on the trees right now!
