Pie!

Happy Thanksgiving! A tradition that we've been doing for several years now is writing down what we're thankful for during FHE in October and November and reading them out loud on Thanksgiving day. This year David and Rachel came out to celebrate with us. Skyler pulled out all the stops and made as much from scratch as possible! I covered the desserts.
The chocolate pie was pretty much melted chocolate chips, so we ate very thin slices at a time! David liked adding a little bit of peanut butter to it.
Making stuffing. We also made mashed potatoes in the pressure cooker.
Hot chocolate! I made sure to get Land-O-Lakes.
The kids love hot chocolate and insist on marshmallows every time.

I was surprised at how well my first apple pie turned out. I only did it from scratch because Claire had her heart set on making an apple pie. We worked together on it and we felt like Snow White :)

I have never seen our fridge this full! This is how our parent's fridge is when we come to visit. We still have leftovers. Notice the two giant bowls of acini salad? I haven't eaten some in years and I probably ate some after every meal for three days straight it's so yummy!
We walked around North campus at OU. David took the time to urban sketch one side of the library. Claire and Todd wanted to join in too, which I thought was cute, so we brought their pens and notebooks too. Claire drew it several times, I don't think out of frustration, but for the challenge of it. I was impressed how she stuck with it and she asked us questions to help her know how to go about drawing certain parts. There were lots of details such as: gargoyles, faces, statues, tutor arches, bricks and windows.

We also went to one of the kid's favorite parks. This is the fire truck.
Claire eating and David reading. We mostly talked, played with the kids and ate a lot of yummy food. We really enjoyed having them stay in our extra room. We'll always remember their visit.

Turkey

Claire was pretty proud of this sunshine that she drew. We drew houses with permanent marker on this piece of cardboard and then colored them in. Then we stood the cardboard up and pretended her toys lived in them.
Whenever I take a photo or video Todd jumps up, runs to me and says "I wanna see!"
Skyler being sweet to Todd and holding him like a baby
I discovered them being cute together!

The grass and trees are finally looking like it's fall time.
Prego pictures. I don't think I've taken any up until this point. I'm around 5 months here.

The kids loved taking apart this plastic organizer and rebuilding with it. They also liked pretending with the tube legs.
Impromptu picnic after church. In November? I know. It's been colder weather since then.

Skyler's first turkey! It turned out great for our ward thanksgiving dinner.

The kids were watching him prep the turkey here.
Name that movie :) I wonder how long Todd will watch chick flicks with us. With another girl on the way he might not have a choice...
Movie night with the kids while Dad is up late working.

Halloween Time

Claire likes to climb onto the head of this hippo and ride it. Todd was saying "hi" to some geese that landed in the field.
This year I only made Todd's costume, which he wore long enough for pictures and that was it. Good thing I didn't spend too much time and money on it. He makes a cute hobbit!
Claire had three costume opportunities this year. One was Snow White.
The other was a "Super Hero Flower"

This was my Queen Bee costume (minus the wings) for trunk-or-treat, but I really enjoyed being a tooth fairy (when we went around the neighborhood) with the dress and heels from Angela's wedding and some fairy wings and face paint. We had some ideas for Skyler this year, but in the end he didn't dress up. He did overdose on Kit Kats though :)
 Hobbit!
Right before trunk-or-treat. Todd calls his candy stash "Trick-or-treat"

Halloween morning at the park. This is what Todd wore that night.

Claire is a true Oklahoman wearing flip flops in October. Grandma Quinn sent her this cute shirt.
Claire's anticipation for trick-or-treating. Her third costume was Sophia the First.

Brother and sister hanging out in the castle. Every once in awhile we get this castle out, like a fort.
